Britney's Stay Will Be Extended

It's not a done deal, but expect that sometime tonight, papers will be signed at UCLA extending Britney Spears' stay at the psych ward -- by 14 days.

It's an internal process -- done without a court order. But we're told it will indeed happen, and that's not surprising given her mental health. As we first reported, Britney's been diagnosed with severe bipolar disorder.

The ward Britney is in is considered one of the best in the nation for the treatment she is receiving.

62. Well I'll be checking daily off and on for updates on her wellbeing and unfortunately the next saga in the life of Britney...At this point it's become an addiction... Sorry... It was a kicker while she was riding around and talking in her British accent, but I'm glad that she is getting the help she needs....

64. oh steve- post #61.. she brought this on herself.... of course we wouldn't harrass and annoy someone with cancer.... the person with cancer doesn't run around town showin of their kibble and bits to the world. someone with cancer doesn't run around with pap smears at 3 am.... someone with cancer seems to have some common sense .... does something worth while in their life.... makes a difference.... britster is just plan ole loooney.... stevie..... pumpkin... it will be okay.... here's a tissue.

65. Her psychiatrist and Britney or her conservator will appear before a judge and the judge will decide if the 14 day hold is justified. The hearing can be held at the hospital or in a ourtroom. Check the Welfare & Institution Code for the exact details. Her hold is now a 5250. She also has free assistance from a Patient's Rights Advocate provided by LA County. She cannot be put on the 14 day without a hearing.

67. Our prayers are answered. Maybe now the world will be educated re:this disorder. To treat someone badly because their disease is mental is morally wrong. I am guilty, too. Just from fear and ignorance. I have learned a lot from this site, and friends have started talking about their problems. They were on meds, and the rest of us didn't even kknow they were bi-polar. To laugh at this is so stupid and unkind.

There is no doubt this girl needs help...but being crazy is not against the law...going to starbucks and gas stations, not against the law, dating a photographer not against the law and it's not even against the law to not want your children. So, how is it this easy to get someone committed against their will? And, by the very parents who caused her to be this way in the first place...why on earth would anyone think her parents are capable of making appropriate decisions on her behalf.. According to tmz all of her drug tests came up clean, so, what exactly warrants her being held against her will for another 2 weeks? She may very well need to be hospitalized, but forcing someone to be committed involuntarily is a scary line to cross....especially when her own mother needs a meal ticket, that Britney stopped providing for her.

74. We all need to pray for Britney she is a sick girl and needs people around her to care about her, not exploit her. There must be some relative or friend that can help her. I truly feel she is now getting the help that she so desperately needs hopefully God will place a Angel in her path that will help her. I pray for her everyday, she is a human being and we should all try to understand her plea for help! Pray for Britney.
